PEGASUS BAY - Waipara

The Donaldson family were one of the pioneers of this very special area just one hour’s car ride north of Christchurch. The area comprises a narrow valley protected on the east and west by mountain ranges. The soils are a mix of clay, limestone, glacial deposits and gravels. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc are well suited here. The winemakers, Matt & Lynnette Donaldson, are masters when it comes to winemaking, each as passionate as the other about the varieties that are grown on the property.

SAUVIGNON BLANC-SEMILLON 2005:

Pegasus Bay Sauvignon Blanc - Semillon wineVibrant gooseberry, passion-fruit and tropical fruit flavours with an underlying depth of creaminess and body. I personally love this wine and enjoy with an array of foods.

Case of 12 bottles - £150.00

Case of 6 bottles - £82.00

RIESLING 2006:

Pegasus Bay Riesling wineOne of New Zealand’s top five Rieslings which has received many accolades both at home and overseas. Opulent, racy with flavours and aromas of honey, apple blossom, lime and grapefruit with hints of apricot and a wonderful freshness that belies the whole gamut of flavours. A wine that is drinkable now but would repay keeping for five to eight years.

Case of 12 bottles - £150.00

Case of 6 bottles- £82.00

CHARDONNAY 2005:

Pegasus Bay Chardonnay wineComplex biscuity bouquet with hints of grapefruit and nectarine. Full and rich on the palate, very Burgundian in fact. Made in the traditional way Very good weight and very harmonious.

A must for anyone who loves top quality White Burgundy.

Case of 12 bottles - £185.00

Case of 6 bottles - £99.00

PINOT NOIR 2005:

Pegasus Bay Pinot Noir wineAgain, this winery scores as being up in the top league of Pinot Noir producers, both at home and on the international scene. The nose is reminiscent of black cherry, violets, dark chocolate and black plum. The palate follows on with a lovely balance between fruit and oak, tannin and alcohol. A wine in for the long haul and I thoroughly recommend it.

Case of 12 bottles - £236.00

Case of 6 bottles - £125.00
